Goodness gracious people don't know what they are doing when they are comparing Sachin Tendulkar to God.It was really appalling to see Tendulkar making no attempt to save the no.10 and 11 in front of Steyn and Morkel on 5th of the first test.Certain commentators including Mr. Ravi Shastri have defended him saying he could't have batted out 90 overs or saved the tail for so long. But it could have saved India from a shameful innings defeat, imagine if the same thing was done by VVS Laxman few months back when India were tottering at 125/8 chasing 215 runs against the Aussies. Also the weather was always suspect and apart from day 2 none of the days could have the full quota of overs bold. There were always chances of "divine intervention" saving the Indians.Mr.Sunil Gavaskar was commentating few years back in a similar situation and he really gave a mouthful to the Indian middle order batsmen then(probably Ganguly).Former Aussie test captains have always stood firm on their stand by saying that Sachin is not the greatest because his stuff does't help the teams match winning cause(or match saving). You cannot give"BHARAT RATNA" to a man who holds personal performance and stats above team's cause.Just for the sake of remaing "not out" and enhancing his average does't speak well on part of the man of his calibre.Post match press confrence saw Graeme Smith also voicing similar opinion when he told that he was surprised at Tendulkar's "submission".Mr.Arun Lal also was quiet surprised by all this.Although his innings stood out, people keep on forgetting that its a team game after all and stats will just remain stats.Stats take a back seat when you speak about Laxman and Yuvraj(odi's only) cause they deliever when chips are down and have plyed match winning knocks. Our media also remained muted on all this.Media should show the complete picture even if its not that rosy.
Hope Sachin would't repeat such sort of things in future and keep on fighting as they say "until the fat lady sings"
